ALL MEMBERS, GUESTS and VISITORS
ARE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW ALL RULES and REGULATIONS

 

GENERAL SAFETY RULES

The following rules apply to ALL ranges and ALL firearm and ammunition types.

  • ALWAYS TREAT FIREARMS AS IF THEY ARE LOADED.
  • ALWAYS make sure your firearm is safe to operate.
  • ALWAYS make sure your firearm and ammunition are compatible.
  • ALWAYS keep the muzzle pointed downrange or straight up.
  • ALWAYS wear appropriate eye and ear protection.
  • ALWAYS keep firearms unloaded until you are ready to shoot.
    • DO NOT load or unload a firearm behind an approved or designated Firing Line.
    • Firearms that are not in a case or holster must be carried with the ACTION OPEN, CHAMBER CLEARED, and MAGAZINE REMOVED.
  • ALWAYS keep the SAFETY ON, and your finger OFF THE TRIGGER, until you are ready to shoot.
  • NEVER point a firearm at anything you do not intend to shoot.
  • ALWAYS be sure of your target and what lies around and beyond it.
    • Pay special attention to the mountain beyond the range, for people, animals or vehicles.
  • ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings and other shooters.
  • ALWAYS be aware of the possibility of ricochets.
  • NEVER discharge a firearm from ANY LOCATION other than an approved or designated Firing Line.
  • ALWAYS obey Range Commands regardless of who initiates them.
    • Range Commands are non-negotiable.
    • Anyone can call out a Range Command at any time.
  • ALWAYS loudly announce “CEASE-FIRE” prior to going beyond the Firing Line (downrange).
    • Activate the Cease-Fire Messaging System, if available.
    • NEVER step beyond the Firing Line until ALL SHOOTERS have acknowledged the command.
    • DURING A CEASE-FIRE, ALL FIREARMS MUST BE “OPENED and GROUNDED”, meaning bolts or levers open, magazines removed, chambers cleared, and their muzzles pointed downrange or standing up in an approved rack.
    • NEVER HANDLE A FIREARM FOR ANY REASON DURING A CEASE-FIRE.
  • It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that all members bring their own emergency medical kit to the Range that includes at least one tourniquet, clotting agent, bandages, tape, scissors and eyewash solution.

Violation of ANY of the Club’s Bylaws, Rules, Regulations or Directives will result in the person or persons being asked to leave the Range and may result in possible suspension or termination of membership and possible civil or criminal charges.

CLUB RULES AND REGULATIONS

El Paso Gun and Marksmanship (the “Club”) is a private organization that provides its members with a variety of safe and clean outdoor target shooting ranges to enjoy on a year-around basis.

  • Member ID Cards are to be VISIBLY DISPLAYED AT ALL TIMES while on range property.
  • The Club’s hours of operation are Sunrise to Sunset, 365 days a year, weather permitting.
  • Nighttime shooting is prohibited.
  • All ranges are self-serve.
  • Please be courteous to those around you and respectful of the Club’s property.
  • Please take all used targets, spent casings, hulls and trash with you when you leave the range.
  • Possession or consumption of alcohol or drugs of any kind on range property is prohibited.
  • Members may bring up to two (2) guests per visit, but not to exceed three (3) visits.
  • Guests are the responsibility of the member and must abide by all the rules, regulations, directives and bylaws of the Club.
  • Anyone under the age of 21 must be supervised by a parent, guardian or Club member.
  • RANGE COMMANDS: Members and their guests should be familiar with the following commands:
    • CEASE FIRE: immediately stop shooting, make the firearm safe, and step back from the Firing Line.
    • THE LINE IS SAFE: all firearms are in a safe condition and shooters are behind the yellow Safety Line.
    • THE RANGE IS COLD: it is now safe to go beyond the firing line (downrange).
    • ALL CLEAR: range is clear to resume shooting operations.
    • THE RANGE IS HOT: shooters can approach their firearms to prepare to shoot.
    • COMMENCE FIRING: shooters can begin shooting.
  • The ONLY APPROVED TARGETS for use on range property are paper, cardboard, or steel, except for clay pigeons, which are ONLY ALLOWED on the Shotgun Range.
  • Steel-core, armor-piercing, explosive, incendiary and tracer ammunition, as well as calibers 50-BMG and larger, are prohibited.
  • Fully automatic firearms, including any firearm modified to simulate automatic fire, are prohibited.
  • Shooting at, wounding, or killing any wildlife in or around the range is strictly prohibited and subject to civil and/or criminal charges.
  • The general right of members to access and use the range shall take precedence over special or exclusive use, unless such special use is preapproved by the Club’s Board of Governors (the “BOG”).
  • Members and/or organizations, unless preapproved by the BOG, are prohibited from the following:
    • Using range property to host an event, a training session or a tactical exercise.
    • Filming a promotional video or distributing advertising materials on range property.

Any vandalism of Club property, including the misuse of targets and/or target stands, by either a member or their guest(s) will be the sole responsibility of the member involved resulting in possible suspension or termination of membership, and possible civil or criminal charges.

MAIN (Large Bore) RANGE RULES

ALWAYS review GENERAL SAFETY RULES and CLUB RULES & REGULATIONS prior to shooting.

FIREARMS

  • Rifles, Carbines, Muzzle Loaders, Revolvers and Semi-Automatic Pistols ALLOWED.
  • Shotguns are allowed, but clay pigeon targets are PROHIBITED.

AMMUNITION

  • All centerfire and rimfire calibers are allowed EXCEPT for 50 BMG or larger.
  • Shotgun slugs & shotshells.

TARGETS

  • Paper or cardboard – set at 10 yards MINIMUM from shooter.
  • Steel – set at 25 yards MINIMUM from shooter.
  • ALWAYS BE AWARE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF RICOCHETS.
  • NO CLAY PIGEONS.
  • Shotgun patterning should ONLY be done with paper or cardboard targets.
  • Permanent steel targets are generously provided at various distances by our volunteers.

RULES OF USE

    • Please remove your targets, spent hulls and casings, and all other trash before leaving the range.

Violation of ANY of the Club’s Bylaws, Rules, Regulations or Directives will result in the person or persons being asked to leave the Range and may result in possible suspension or termination of membership and possible civil or criminal charges.

RIMFIRE (Small Bore) RANGE RULES

ALWAYS review GENERAL SAFETY RULES and CLUB RULES & REGULATIONS prior to shooting.

FIREARMS

  • Rifles, Carbines, Revolvers and Semi-Automatic Pistols ALLOWED.
  • NO SHOTGUNS.

AMMUNITION

  • 22 Short, Long, Long Rifle and WMR rimfire calibers ONLY.
  • NO 17 HMR and 17 WSM.
  • NO CENTERFIRE CALIBERS OF ANY KIND.

TARGETS

  • Paper or cardboard – set at 10 yards MINIMUM from shooter.
  • Steel – set at 15 yards MINIMUM from shooter.
  • ALWAYS BE AWARE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF RICOCHETS.
  • NO CLAY PIGEONS.
  • Permanent steel targets are generously provided at various distances by our volunteers.

RULES OF USE

  • Please remove your targets, spent casings and all other trash before leaving the range.

PISTOL BAY (Upper & Lower) RANGE RULES

ALWAYS review GENERAL SAFETY RULES and CLUB RULES & REGULATIONS prior to shooting.

FIREARMS

  • Revolvers and Semi-Automatic Pistols ONLY.
  • NO SHOTGUNS.
  • NO RIFLES (long or short barrel).
  • NO MUZZLE LOADERS.

AMMUNITION

  • Straight-wall, pistol caliber ammunition ONLY.
  • NO RIFLE CALIBERS OF ANY KIND.

TARGETS

  • Paper or cardboard – set at 3 yards MINIMUM from shooter.
  • Steel – set at 15 yards MINIMUM from shooter.
  • ALWAYS BE AWARE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF RICOCHETS.
  • NO CLAY PIGEONS.

RULES OF USE

  • ALWAYS place paper or cardboard targets to AVOID hitting the target frames while shooting.
  • Bullets should ALWAYS impact the MIDDLE of the berm or BELOW.
  • DO NOT shoot at the left or right-side berms.
  • Please remove your targets, spent casings and all other trash before leaving the range.

Violation of ANY of the Club’s Bylaws, Rules, Regulations or Directives will result in the person or persons being asked to leave the Range and may result in possible suspension or termination of membership and possible civil or criminal charges.

SHOTGUN RANGE RULES

ALWAYS review GENERAL SAFETY RULES and CLUB RULES & REGULATIONS prior to shooting.

FIREARMS

  • Shotguns – firing shotshells ONLY.
  • Revolvers – firing shotshells ONLY.

AMMUNITION

  • LEAD shotshells with 7-1/2 to 12 shot size ONLY.
    • ALL larger shot sizes are PROHIBITED.
  • NO STEEL SHOT.
  • NO BUCKSHOT.
  • NO SLUGS.

TARGETS

  • Paper or cardboard – PLEASE DO NOT ATTACH TO WOODEN “WINDOW” FRAMES.
  • Clay Pigeons.
    • NEVER throw in the direction of the Lower Pistol Bay Range.
    • HAND THROWERS should stand to the left or right of the shooter, but NEVER in front.
    • MECHANICAL THROWERS are to be securely anchored based on the machine’s instructions.
  • NO STEEL TARGETS.

RULES OF USE

  • PATTERNING IS NOT ALLOWED ON THIS RANGE. Please use the MAIN RANGE only.
  • ALL shooting must be done with the firearm pointed downrange, THROUGH the “window” of the wooden frames, to prevent shot pellets from traveling towards the Lower Pistol Bay Range.
  • Please remove your targets, spent hulls and all other trash before leaving the range.

Violation of ANY of the Club’s Bylaws, Rules, Regulations or Directives will result in the person or persons being asked to leave the Range and may result in possible suspension or termination of membership and possible civil or criminal charges.
